What does BRIGHT stand for? Breast cancer Research is Greater Hamilton area Today

Here is what you need to know and what makes BRIGHT so special:

Every participant raised dollar goes entirely and directly to fund local breast cancer research in Hamilton
100% volunteer powered (no paid staff)
24 research projects have been funded so far (2 new ones in 2025)
1700 participants and 200 volunteers attended the 2025 event

Meet Justin! He has been involved since 2021 starting with his own team of teens doing the BRIGHT run throughout high school — Team ATAC (Ancaster Teens Against Cancer) and for the past 2 years, while away at university, he has joined The Linear Accelerators team. This year his family, through craft sales and donations, raised $3381 to help the 2026 total from the run to become $389k and counting, placing him 3rd in the top community fundraiser category.

Justin has also volunteered since the live events resumed in 2022. Through the summer selling tickets at the Juravinski Cancer Centre and on event day, starting with set up and ending with tear down.

September 11, 2027 will be the 20th Annual BRIGHT Run. Let’s help him surpass what he raised last year and set him up for his best one yet!

My Story

Owning a small gift shop has always been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. Life went in a different direction and I worked in the medical field for years but something was always missing. After having children, I decided to stay home and raise my kids while I figured out what I really wanted to do. What began as a small venture making baskets from home turned 8 years later into seeing my dream of opening a gift store became a reality. I am so happy to share my passion with all of you, which is to create a place where you can find unique gifts for that special someone and shop locally. I have many local vendors in the store and do my very best to get products from canadian companies and purchase through Canadian wholesalers when I can't, to give my support to the Canadian industry.
